Scarlett Johansson covers Jeff Buckley

Not only was she hot, but now she’s cool.
If this link doesn’t work, try this one.
Ok, ok… slightly girly compared to the original version.

Woohoo! Ghinzu is back! This is going to be an awesome year! Woohoo!
… what?
… you don’t remember Ghinzu? You’ve never heard of it? Damn, you idiot. Of course you did:
Their album Blow (2004) is one of my favorite albums, and I’m telling you I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. March 16th, be ready.
And that’s also my excuse to share another song from them that I wanted to post for a long time, for some reason mainly for LeMarc. Something is telling that he’ll like the lyrics… But not only this, it has an awesome rhythm and crescendo.
All together, come on:
“She turns me on
She turns you on
She turns every single fucking life form oooooon”

It’s raw, it’s indie, it’s funky, it’s awesome, it’s The Whitest Boy Alive.
Coming with a new album in march 2009.

…I’m getting to see Garaj Mahal tonight at Yoshi’s :). Featuring the best bassist in the world Kai Eckhardt, guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque, drummer Alan Hertz, and Eric Levy on the keyboard.
Update:
Little update on this. It was not Alan Hertz on the drums, the just-as-talented Sean Rickman. I wished someone had taped the show, but I still found a recent show of them. Recorder on January 8th, 2009, in Santa Cruz, CA:

Today is an uncertain day. My favorite band is in town, and no one wants to see them except me. Lotus, the most thrilling music I can now. I’ll write more about them later. Now is the time to convince people.
A LOT of their stuff is on www.archive.org. Check them out.

Now that the success of the latest album from Radiohead, In Rainbows, has finally been revealed. Time is now for me to share some of this album.
“Weird fishes / Arpeggi” - my favorite - another f$ked up song like only the greatest band of the world could do it. Great lyrics, a shivering crescendo followed with a dark radioheady end. Bee - you - tee - full.
Noted also, “House of cards”, project of music video without any camera of lights. It all has been done through geeky process and by the community. What’s great about that song? Well, many things, but just to say one thing, the first 2 (or 4) verses.

Je reviens encore une fois a mon favori, “Wish you were here” évidemment.

I’ve seen quite a buzz lately about this new band called Vampire Weekend. They seem to be everywhere on the web (especially on the blogosphere), I’ve heard their song in a commercial, they also performed SNL and the Dave Letterman show.
So I told myself, “hey why not check them out whenever they’re in SF?” — So, Ticketmaster me voilà, oh great they have 2 dates in a month at the Independent. and CRAP! they’re sold out! what?
For those who don’t know, the Independent is a relatively small venue, playing a lot of “independent” stuff. This place has always room for some more people, and is rarely full. Ok, that’s too bad, but a good sign. I have to listen to more of their songs. Here’s their current hit called A-Punk and I have to say: it fr$%^&ing rocks !!!
They come from New York and have a pretty strong African influence, along with an obvious Western influence, therefore describing their own genre as “”Upper West Side Soweto”. I hate defining music as genres usually but that one was pretty original.
