- my coffee addiction has never been so strong
- I have a planned break up tonight
- I saw a guy left dead on the street next to my work in the early morning. The police arrived seconds later, and did that movement of the dead that says it all.
- I look over the shoulder of someone writing a text message. It starts with “NO.. I need a strong and sober woman in my life”. I look away after that.
- Madeleine Peyroux makes me tear up
- I end up twice in the wrong bart, wrong direction and wrong station
- I had to talk to her again for purely logistic reasons. It was as cold, unhappy and unfriendly as it can be.
- I have a new business idea
- I have no idea of what I should do if I could choose to do whatever I want tomorrow
- the half marathon training is my only free time during this week
- now I need another sip of coffee…
You know you’ve been too much to Cat Club when:
- you know all the American classics from the 80s
- the bouncer now recognizes you
- you know all the words of “Like a prayer”
- you too, you scream when you hear the first notes of Journey’s “Midnight train”
- you lose 2 pounds everytime you go
- you lose your jacket every other time.
But in all this wisdom naturally acquired, what about my newly discovered drunken English skills? Well, yesterday was midterms for me and I’m sorry to say but I failed. I did pretty well in pronunciation I think. No spit, no mumbling, not too many blanks looking for words. But the problem is this: I was so focused on it that I forgot the other half of the evaluation, content. I doubt that anyone has been impressed to know about killdeers, the Mono Lake or even how having Rock Band should be in the top 10 qualities for a guy.
Another nuit broucouille, this class is really hard.
Their album Blow (2004) is one of my favorite albums, and I’m telling you I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. March 16th, be ready.
And that’s also my excuse to share another song from them that I wanted to post for a long time, for some reason mainly for LeMarc. Something is telling that he’ll like the lyrics… But not only this, it has an awesome rhythm and crescendo.
All together, come on:
“She turns me on
She turns you on
She turns every single fucking life form oooooon”
…I’m getting to see Garaj Mahal tonight at Yoshi’s :). Featuring the best bassist in the world Kai Eckhardt, guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque, drummer Alan Hertz, and Eric Levy on the keyboard.
Update:
Little update on this. It was not Alan Hertz on the drums, the just-as-talented Sean Rickman. I wished someone had taped the show, but I still found a recent show of them. Recorder on January 8th, 2009, in Santa Cruz, CA:
C’est décidé, je reviens en France en décembre histoire de voir ma bande de frenchies :). Je devrais passer Noël avec vous, et revenir a Frisco juste pour le nouvel an. Merci patron de me laisser partir dans les temps difficiles…
